Team Solutions
Team building. It has been a top "buzz word" for years now, but what does it really mean. Some managers feel they have good teamwork as long as everyone does exactly what he or she says, others feel teamwork means they are not being bothered with petty complaints and personal problems. Many feel team work is when all their staff is helping to build the bottom line of the business.
The Five Second Quiz
Quick as you can, list three things you actively do to help your organization feel they are part of a team?
At Practical Education Solutions we believe team work is when skills and experience of all levels are being shared and actually used to increase the success of the organization. We focus on actions not words. We know of a small but booming company that knew the buzz words and so implemented a "suggestion box" with awards of $5,000 $10,000 even $15,000 paid out for good suggestions. We got involved when they told us; "We paid very substantial awards but morale is lower than ever and we never get anything in the suggestion box anymore" We asked the practical question, "How many of the suggestions have you put in place?" The answer was, "well, we haven't had time to make any changes"
The buzz words are meaningless and counterproductive if there is no action behind them.
